LARRY TEE
INTERNATIONAL DJ. HITMAKER. CLUB ICON.
Atlanta & NYC ERA / NIGHTLIFE STAR
Larry Tee hailed from Atlanta Georgia and has the wildest musical lineage. He played in the group The Fans that produced the B-52s’ first single “Rock Lobster” and dated R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe.
His own Atlanta group, The Now Explosion became the house band of the Pyramid Club in New York City and had guest stars like RuPaul and Lady Bunny, who started the Wigstock drag festival. He wrote the career-starting hit “Supermodel (You Better Work)” for RuPaul while living with him in New York.
Larry became a central figure in the club scene, playing alongside legends Frankie Knuckles and Junior Vasquez at the Limelight, Roxy, Palladium, and Twilo. He is considered an important figure in the Club Kid scene and contributed 3 songs for the Party Monster movie.
ELECTROCLASH / International DJ
In that late 90s, after getting sober, Larry Tee re-invented himself with the launch of his Electroclash Festivals and parties that featured Felix Da Housecat, Peaches, Scissor Sisters, Chicks on Speed, Fischerspooner, Ladytron, Tiga, DJ Hell, and many more.
His compilations featured the work of Miss Kittin, Adult, W.I.T., and Avenue D to name a few. At this point his international DJ career took off and he DJed at Primavera Sound, Benicàssim Festival, Global Gathering, and every major mega-club in the world.
THE LARRY TEE HITS / INDIE SLEAZE HITMAKER
After the initial rush of the Electroclash Festival, where Larry helped make a generation of indie dance artists, female performers and electronic DJ stars famous, he started having more of his own hits: “Licky” feat. Princess Superstar (remixed by Steve Aoki with Santigold rapping on top), “Let's Make Nasty” feat. Roxy Cottontail with Afrojack remix, “Do I Look Like A Slut” by Avenue D, “My Pussy” by Amanda LePore, and “I Love U” with Bart B More. These remixes all became 'bloghouse' and 'figit' smashes, now classified as Indie Sleaze.
He even started TZUJI, a clothing line that dressed Missy Elliott, The B-52s, and Jimmy Fallon. His latest music includes Beatport hits with Radio Slave like “Black Pussy's Revenge” and “Fashion Queen” as well as a series of electro-inspired tracks with Wow Ash Wow, Love Bailey, Tokeyo, The Glamorous Monique, and several songs for the upcoming King of Drag, a new TV show featuring Drag Kings.
Larry is taking booking dates for his 25th Anniversary of Electroclash tour with artists like Princess Superstar, Melissa Logan (Chicks on Speed), and Morgan Wood featured on Tee's upcoming release.
In addition to his music and fashion endeavors, Larry is a motivational speaker, a writer for Faith Fanzine, a producer of historic music documentaries, and a creator of upcoming scripted feature films and TV shows.
